Nationwide car of tomorrow unveiled

Filed under: NASCAR Articles — Scott Voight @ 2:41 pm

NASCAR announced the plans to introduce the new car of tomorrow into the Nationwide Series. In 2010 it will compete in four races, In July at Daytona International Speedway, Michigan International Speedway on August 14, Richmond International Raceway on September 10, and Lowe’s Motor Speedway on October 15.

Robin Pemberton NASCARS vice president of competition met with team owners and crew chiefs at the Research and Development Center in July to review the car and get suggestions.

The reason for these particular tracks is to put the cars on a wide variety of tracks to give the drivers, crews and owners the opportunity to build a notebook on the aspects of the cars in different scenarios.

According to Joe Balash, NASCAR Nationwide Series director, the idea is to give this series a new look with the new cars and improve the competition by evening out the playing field between the car manufacturers. This will give the smaller under budget teams an equal chance to compete for wins.
